What you will do in your working day

Job purpose

  • To assist and learn in all aspects of joinery
  • General house maintenance and repairs
  • Learning to use specialist equipment and tools
  • The chance to develop a full and comprehensive range of specialist joinery skills
  • To work under supervision


  • 1st fix joinery
  • 2nd fix joinery
  • Fitting Kitchens
  • Fitting flooring
  • Hanging doors
  • Using hand tools
  • Joints and fixings
  • Frames
  • Stud walls
  • Fencing
  • Decking
  • Correct measurements and calculations
  • To keep the work area clean and tidy
  • To keep the work area free from Health and Safety hazards and adhere to all Health and Safety requirements
  • To complete any other tasks identified by their supervisor

The training you will be getting

  • Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery at Stockton Riverside College, this will be one day a week
  • Functional skills maths & English, if required

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

An opportunity for a full-time position at the end of the apprenticeship.
