What you will do in your working day

  • Supervising children play time. 
  • Delivering high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0 – 5 years. 
  • Ensuring that the preschool nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others. 
  • Developing partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development.
  • Be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Deputy Nursery Manager/Nursery Manager to complete all academic aspects of the apprenticeship.  
  • Engaging children in learning and play activities. 
  • Keeping and updating records. 
  • Maintaining a high standard of operation. 
  • Attending staff meetings. 
  • To keep a record of achievement file on children, for parents/carers. 
  • Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the setting, e.g., preparation of snacks and equipment. 
  • Recording accidents in the accident book. 
  • To contribute to a planned programme of activities suitable to the age range of children.

The training you will be getting

  • At the end of the apprenticeship you will achieve Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) along with English and maths Functional Skills if you don't already have them.
  • Paediatric first aid qualification
  • You will complete your training at Rose Villa Day Nursery, Church Chare, Whickham , Newcastle upon Tyne, NE16 4JF
  • Training will be one day per week
