What you will do in your working day

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join SportsCool, Durham on a brand-new Apprenticeship Standard Level 2 Community Activator Coach. This opportunity is to start in September 2024. This is a remote role and requires the successful applicant to be able to drive and have access to a vehicle.

The Level 2 Community Activator Coach apprenticeship is for individuals whose key work is in planning, leading and coaching physical activities for people of all ages in the community.

As an apprentice you will be a key member of the SportsCool team, and the role will involve:

  • Supporting and coordinating the delivery of sports coaching sessions in Primary Schools and the Community
  • Delivery of sessions in a variety of school and community settings
  • Reinforcing learning and behaviour routines
  • Encouraging full integration into class activities
  • Provide a fun and safe learning environment for all children
  • Provide excellent customer service to both schools and parents

This position would suit an active person who is looking to develop a career in physical activities or outdoor education. 

It would be an advantage if candidates had some prior knowledge maybe through group activity such as Scouts, Girl Guides, Duke of Edinburgh or have a keen interest in Sports and sporting activities.

To be considered for this role you should be:

  • Organised and have planning skills
  • Able to pass an enhanced DBS check
  • Motivated to work with children and schools to achieve positive outcomes
  • Able to drive (full license) and have a vehicle (as may be travelling between sites)

The shifts for the role will be Monday to Friday - 8am to 7pm (shift patterns) example would be 8.30am to 4pm or 11.30am to 7pm and Weekends - on a rota (1 in 4).  This role is contracted to 37.5 hours per week.

The training you will be getting

Community Activator Coach Level 2. 

You will be supported by an assessor throughout your apprenticeship.

As you progress through your apprenticeship your duties and responsibilities will alter as you develop the skills for a successful career specialising in the delivery of sporting and physical activity programmes in a variety of settings or communities.

Training will be a mix of face to face and online learning.

Functional Skills in maths and English if required.

Soft skills - opportunity to get involved with other aspects of the business such as marketing, sales, social media.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

This Apprenticeship will help gain progression and work toward being a Lead Coach or Team Leader with SportsCool or take on other responsibilities within the business.
