What you will do in your working day

Duties include:

  • Liaising with debtors and creditors
  • Recording all financial transactions daily
  • Issuing payment invoices and receipts to clients
  • Preparing and submitting periodic financial reports to management
  • Performing account reconciliations
  • Processing income statements, balance sheets and other management account reports, under the supervision of the Senior Accountant
  • Reviewing expenditures of the company such as payroll and petty cash expenses
  • Assisting with other accounting tasks, as assigned by a supervisor

A full driving licence would be desirable.

The training you will be getting

  • Hull College will deliver the Apprenticeship Standard Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2.
  • Functional Skills in English, if required.
  • Day release once a week at Hull College.

For the accounts or finance assistant, the qualification required is:

  • AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
  • Institute of Certified Bookkeepers Certificate in Bookkeeping
  • Institute of Accountants and Bookkeepers Level 2 Certificate in Accounting and Business

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • On completion of the apprenticeship you will have the option to move onto your Level 3 and progress within the company.

Northern Star Flooring Limited (NSF) is an experienced resin flooring contractor from the North of England. But we are not limited geographically to the customers where we can add value and assistance to. We are able to carry out nationwide site surveys, be responsive for time sensitive projects and audits; and price highly competitively from our Yorkshire base. Some of our largest customers, such as Hovis, will employ us to work across all of their sites.
