The IT Technician will be trained on our RMM (Remote Monitor and Monitoring) package. You will be dealing with client IT problems and trained in prevention of the problem not just reacting to current issues. You will be working on notebooks, desktops, servers mainly on the Windows. You will also be learning and dealing with Microsoft 365 problems.

What you will do in your working day

The IT Technician Apprentice will be learning how to develop business IT hardware and software to our ever-growing client base. Below is a basic list of duties:

  • Answering customer calls and helpdesk ticket enquiries and recording details of IT requests
  • Returning customer calls and helpdesk ticket enquiries
  • Going to client’s site to install equipment or setup software.
  • Keeping an accurate timesheet, detailing time, customer and work completed
  • Making software available to appropriate users
  • Assigning access permissions to users according to the role
  • Installing and testing software
  • Trouble-shooting PC software and operating system errors / faults
  • Ensuring remote monitoring software is installed, properly configured, regularly updated and working properly on all PC and server stations
  • Distributing files as required for staff use
  • Maintaining servers and network hardware
  • Setting up hardware
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware failures
  • Checking new computer equipment and installing as expected
  • Liaising with external vendors to resolve faults speedily
  • Liaising with the designated personnel

  • IT Communications Technician Apprenticeship qualification, Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.
