What you will do in your working day

Duties to include:

  • Assisting tradesmen with the application of plaster finishes to walls, floors and ceilings.
  • Assisting with preparation of mortars.
  • Preparing surfaces for application of mortars.
  • Ensuring that work areas are kept clean and safe.
  • Managing receipt and distribution of materials onsite.
  • Ensuring that company tools and machinery are kept in good working order.

The training you will be getting

You will be working towards a Level 2 Plastering Apprenticeship Standard.
You will receive on and off the job training and support from an assessor and an apprenticeship advisor.
Individuals without level 1 English and Maths will need to achieve this level and take the test for level 2 English and Maths prior to taking the end-point assessment. 
You will be required to attend Cornwall College Camborne on a weekly basis as part of the apprenticeship training.

Our intention is to provide the successful candidate with the skills and confidence to work individually as a competent tradesman on an employed or self-employed basis. Career progression and salary will be defined by the candidates own level of motivation and ambition.

Things to consider

Our depot is in Blackwater and is not well serviced by public transport. Candidates should be prepared to make their own way to our depot for departure times between 07:00-07:30 depending on the distance to the worksite. Alternatively, arrangements can be made to meet nearby (Mount Hawke/Blackwater).
