Summary

The successful candidate will be supported in developing and implementing effective strategies to support the child, by the SENDCo and Class Teacher. The role will be to build that relationship with the child to help them grow and reach their full potential. If you are ambitious and determined to make a difference, we would like to meet you.

£10,982.40 a year

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification. 

  • Childcare or Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Functional Skills (if required).
  • Understanding of relevant policies and practices.
  • An understanding of the curriculum and other learning strategies.
  • An ability to work successfully with children from different ethnic groups.
  • Working or volunteering with children or adults with additional needs such as Autism or ADHD.
  • Monitor, record and assess progress.
  • Use alternative strategies to help children if they are unable to understand.
  • Describe and use a range of behaviour management strategies with children.
  • Identify gaps in their own professional practice that they to develop.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and adapt from past experience.

  • Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
  • Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context.
  • Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
  • Adapt resources to support all learners.
  • Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.
  • Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
  • Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.
