This is an exciting opportunity to work across a number of teams delivering homelessness prevention, housing advice and temporary accommodation services. You will assist Housing Support, Housing Options and administrative staff in their duties and assist with resident activity events at the Council’s refuge and temporary accommodation facility.

What you will do in your working day

  • Learn how to provide a high standard of customer service to colleagues and customers.
  • Acquire the knowledge, skills and behaviour required to provide reception cover.
  • Develop positive and effective working relationships with colleagues across the service.
  • Maintain records and information, including updating of information databases.
  • Gain an overview of the activities involved in supporting a vulnerable client who has experienced homelessness and to assist the Support team in delivering those activities.
  • Gain an overview of the housing options available to people in Calderdale and appropriate ways of providing housing options information.
  • Be trained in the use of the Accounts Payable system and to assist the administrative officers with processing orders, invoices and payments as well as general administrative duties.
  • Learn how to receipt and correctly process small payments from residents of temporary accommodation.
  • Receive training to be able to undertake additional duties as required commensurate with the level of the job.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited level 3 qualification in Housing.
