What you will do in your working day

As an apprentice at Lifting Gear UK, you'll undergo mentoring from an experienced Lifting Equipment Engineer and also engage in the following:

  • Assist in the inspection, testing, and certification of lifting equipment according to industry standards and regulations, while undergoing the apprenticeship program
  • Learn to identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in lifting equipment
  • Participate in preventive maintenance activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment
  • Support technicians in conducting repairs and replacements of components as needed
  • Follow safety procedures and protocols at all times to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance tasks, and repairs performed on lifting equipment
  • Collaborate with team members to complete assigned tasks efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Attend bi-weekly online apprenticehip training sessions with Qualitrain

The training you will be getting

Over the 2 years, you will attend online sessions via MS Teams every 2 weeks with Qualitrain to work towards completing your Level 3 Lifting Equipment Technician Apprenticeship Certificate.

You will also complete 3x LEEA Courses during this time, they are:

  • LEEA Foundation Certificate
  • LEEA Lifting Accesories Course Diploma
  • LEEA Manual Lifting Machines Diploma

Lifting Gear UK will provide on-going training and mentorship in the workplace.

Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

It is expected that upon completion the apprentice will be offered a full-time position with us, and have the opportunity to progress within the company.
