What you will do in your working day

As a member of the team your duties will include:
 Basic preparation of vehicles and tools for the day.
 Listen to team briefing, risk assessment.
 Play a role in health and safety management.
 Process tree work arisings using various tools/machinery.
 Operate machinery and tools at height.
 Tree pruning and felling
 Tree planting
 Operating diggers, stump grinders, loaders.
 Liaise with clients and public
 Learning tree names.
 Extraction of tea/coffee from less than willing clients.
 Take part in team meetings and additional learning when required.
 Smile even when it is raining.
 Understanding that we think trees are cool and nobody else will
understand why.

The training you will be getting

Qualifications achieved:
● Level 2 award in felling and processing trees up to 380mm
● Level 2 award in accessing a tree using a rope and harness
● Level 3 award in aerial tree rescue operations
● Level 3 award in aerial cutting of trees using free fall techniques
● Level 2 award in safe use of mobile elevated work platform
● Level 3 award in use of a chainsaw from a Mobile Elevated Work
Platform (MEWP)
● Level 2 award in emergency first aid at work
● Level 2 award in safe use of brushwood chipper
● Traffic Management (NRSWA Unit 002 Signing, Lighting and
Guarding) OR Sector Scheme 12D
● Level 2 award in chainsaw maintenance
● Level 2 award in cross cutting timber using a chainsaw
 Level 2 Arborist apprenticeship.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Full time position within the team. Further training into more specialist roles.

Things to consider

 Working in all weathers  Although we use mechanical aids the job is physical  This is a team job and candidate must be able to put the team first.  Due to working on sensitive sites a criminal records check will be required.  A non-disclosure agreement will need to be agreed to protect our client interests.
