What you will do in your working day

Key Responsibilities:

  • To help provide a comprehensive pharmaceutical service with emphasis on the accurate preparation and dispensing of medicines to patients and for the supply of medicines to wards, departments and partnership organisations under supervision
  • Participate in local and national audits and monitor compliance with medicines legislation and national and local standards for the safe and secure handling of medicines
  • Ensure that LSCFT policies and procedures relating to medicines are being followed correctly in all clinical areas where you work
  • Undertake ward stock top-ups under supervision and relay the order to the supplying pharmacy department for supply

The training you will be getting

  • You would be expected to complete a Level 3 Pharmacy Technician apprenticeship qualification to enable the applicant to be eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • You will require FOUR GCSE passes (Grade A*-C/Level 9-4) including mathematics, English Language, Science and one other. Functional Skills will be accepted as an alternative for maths & English Language
  • Throughout the duration of your training, you will be fully supported by an educational supervisor and practice supervisors as well as the wider pharmacy teams

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Upon successfully completing the apprentice course the applicate will have the opportunity to apply for Pharmacy Tech vacancies or apply for further apprenticeship vacancies.
