Summary

Brian Meehan Racing is offering an opportunity that will enable you to learn the skills needed to successfully care for racehorses to a high standard and provides a solid introduction to the industry. This apprenticeship also fulfills the BHA requirements for those looking to apply for a jockey licence.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

The successful candidate will undertake 15 months training whilst working towards their Intermediate (Level 2) Equine Groom apprenticeship. All training will be carried out at the employer's premises, with the support of the employer, and will be delivered by Haddon Training.

Apprentices without level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level and take the test for level 2 English and maths prior to completion of their Apprenticeship.

Other requirements

Free accommodation is available on site, however there is no option to bring your own horse into livery. Accommodation onsite will be free of charge. Applicants must have racing experience and must be confident riders.
