What you will do in your working day

* Working with the class team to create a secure, happy and safe environment and assisting in keeping the environment clean and tidy
* Playing and interacting with the children to support their learning and development
* Working with small groups or individual children, including those with special educational needs, delivering class work or interventions
* Developing and maintaining effective relationships with other staff, parents and carers
* Observing pupils and feeding back to the class teacher about learning to inform assessments
* Care routines such as nappy changing, handwashing, supporting snack and lunchtimes and toileting
*Being aware of, and complying with, policies and procedures, e.g. child protection, online safety, health & safety, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
* Accompanying pupils on visits, trips and out-of-school activities as required
* Attending relevant meetings and training

The training you will be getting

  • Upon successful completion of this apprenticeship, you will be qualified as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant and will be able to apply for roles requiring this qualification

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

You can look to apply for roles as a qualified Teaching Assistant in a different school and progress into Higher Education.

There is no guarantee of permanent position at the end of the apprenticeship, but there may be positions available, depending on the needs of the school at the time of the course completion.

Brewster Avenue Infants is a 2-form entry infant school, with a 26-place maintained nursery. Two hundred children from the ages of 3 to 7 attend our school.
