What you will do in your working day

  • To provide discretionary learner support fund support for students across a range of bursary funds including 16-19, 19+ and 24+ bursaries, residential bursaries, childcare and any other support funds provided by funding bodies
  • To promote discretionary learner support funds in order to ensure students entitled to support are fully aware of the support available
  • To process applications in a timely fashion
  • To use the college payment system to generate payment schedules and payments to students who have been approved for financial support
  • To maintain accurate records of students who apply and receive bursaries, appropriate for audit level
  • To provide marketing departments with information to ensure the college website and social media systems are updated
  • To provide regular and timely reports on students in receipt of bursaries
  • To support the bursary panel in the decision-making process in regard to applications made
  • To work collaboratively with the wider Student Welfare team, Directorates, and other departments to ensure support for discretionary learner support fund students is effective

The training you will be getting

Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.

You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.

You will experience a blended learning model.

This is predominantly a work-based programme which means that your learning will take place on the site of your employment and within your contracted working hours. We host supporting workshops regularly throughout the apprenticeship which you will attend in person at our Derby Road campus. Monthly tutorials are held via Microsoft Teams. You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.

At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.

The progression from the apprenticeship would be longevity within the business looking to work towards future qualifications to join the business as a highly skilled and knowledgeable member of the team.
