What you will do in your working day

True MSP is looking for an apprentice to join their technical support team who is passionate about IT. Maybe you have built a computer or fixed one for friends and family? The key to this role is having strong communication skills and a flair for technology.

Initially you will start on the IT helpdesk, but once you have learnt the ropes there will be opportunities to specialise in areas such as IT Project Management, Cyber Security and Networking.

Day to day duties may include but not necessarily limited to:

  • Responding to IT related tickets via telephone and e-mail
  • Occasionally providing onsite client support
  • Setting up new IT equipment for customers
  • Setting up new IT user accounts (e.g. Office 365)
  • User password resets
  • Setting policies and permissions through Active Directory
  • Networking PC’s to printers, scanners and other peripherals
  • Trouble shooting and technical fault diagnostics for customers
  • Remote access to assist with the installations of both software and drivers for hardware (e.g. printer drivers)
  • Administrative tasks such as chasing server checks, printer readings and managing asset registers

The training you will be getting

  • Alongside this role, you will study towards your Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship, on either the Network Technician or the Support Technician pathway
  • You will receive blended training, which includes weekly live, online training sessions and access to on-demand resources via the Pluralsight online learning platform
  • In addition to this, you will also have a review with your Skills Coach every 6-8 weeks, to ensure you are happy and on-track with your Apprenticeship

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • With many of their current senior technicians having come through the scheme, True MSP has a proven track record of progressing apprentices into full time positions
  • Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a higher apprenticeship, or study for professional vendor certifications

Things to consider

Due to the location, being able to drive will be desirable, and there is a free onsite parking.
