What you will do in your working day

Assist with the operation of the accounting and financial procedures within the dealership. In particular assisting with sales ledger and purchase ledger duties such as checking invoices, filing invoices and statements as well as dealing with purchase enquiries.

Other duties include assistance in production on monthly management accounts, balance street reconciliations, daily banking’s and cashflow, credit control, as well as ad-hoc duties that come up within the accounting functions.

The training you will be getting

The apprenticeship standard is at level 3. The structure allows you to achieve the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Level 3 Diploma in Accounting qualification as part of your off-the-job training programme.

Apprentices will receive training and mentoring in the workplace as part of their on-the-job training. In addition, off-the-job training for the level 3 apprenticeship knowledge, skills and behaviour will be delivered by FAR Training, through a combination of online-live / classroom-based lessons and self-study work. Training will be delivered 1 day every week. FAR Training are based at Askham Bryan in York.

The level 3 apprenticeship covers a range of key areas, including:

Preparing Financial Statements
Management Accounting Techniques
Tax Processes for Businesses
Business Awareness
You will also develop business communications and lifelong learning skills, applying what you learn on the course to the wider industry context.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Drive  are keen supporters of progression and growth and will support you in completing your level 3 apprenticeship.

There will be opportunities for you to undertake further responsibilities to develop and grow. Also, there will be opportunities for you to progress onto the level 4 apprenticeship in the future.
