What you will do in your working day

As post-holder, you will be responsible to your line manager for the following:

  • Maintaining and undertaking all aspects of Team administration/data and clerical input for Engineering and BACE Team, using various IT systems including MS Outlook, Word, Excel and in-house systems (training provided and under supervision)
  • Maintaining and prioritising centralised departmental inboxes and student absence lines daily
  • Answering phone calls, dealing with enquiries from internal/external customers and action upon instructions given
  • Supporting diary management as required and ad hoc support for meetings/minutes/disciplinaries etc.
  • Liaising with personnel in other departments to obtain and provide information
  • Collating information and booking resources where required
  • Actively helping organise the team office so that the team can work effectively
  • Maintaining and using digital data for the department and wider college departments to maintain efficient records
  • Carrying out other duties as are required and commensurate with the grade of post


In addition to the above requirements, all staff are expected to:

  • Participate in both internal and external staff development as appropriate
  • Meet the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the College’s Health and Safety Procedure

Be prepared to operate on a flexible year as required. Members of the team will be expected to work out of normal working hours as required by the job.

Comply with Information Security requirements, in line with Weston College policy.

Undertake such other duties required, commensurate with the grade of the appointment.

The training you will be getting

Business Administration Level 3 Standard.

Regular workshops and meetings with assigned assessor.

Functional Skills in maths and English (if required).

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

A permanent role may be offered, but is not guaranteed on completion of the apprenticeship.
