What you will do in your working day

  • You will also have a set of daily duties that you will be expected to carry out alongside your training.
  • During your apprenticeship you will learn to Mill, Turn, Mill, CMM.
  • You will learn how to read drawings, how to operate and program CNC Machines.
  • You will gain experience in each section of the production during your apprenticeship EDM, CNC, Manual, Fitting, Repairs.
  • This is a hands-on role where you will learn to assess a project and problem his solve as the Tool progresses through the Toolroom.
  • An eye for detail and the ability to work well in a team is a must.

The training you will be getting

Engineering Technician Level 3 (A level) - Toolmaker and Tool and Die Maintenance Technician pathway 

  • The training will be completed by Rochdale training
  • This will include a day release to the training centre for the duration of the course
  • Training schedule has yet to be agreed upon, details will be made available at a later date

After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)

After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Toolmaker, Tool and Die Maintenance

Plus one of the following:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Technology (QCF) – for starts up to June 2017 only
  • Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Technologies (QCF) - for starts up to June 2017 only
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) - for all starts from 1st July 2017

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Once qualified, the candidate may be offered full time employment.
