What you will do in your working day

  • Support pupils’ learning as directed, in the context of fostering independence and self-esteem
  • Provide and plan as appropriate for specific focused support to groups and individual pupils in order to raise standards
  • Maintain an active role in class during sessions of teacher led teaching
  • Support pupils in meeting learning targets
  • Have a clear understanding of special educational needs as defined in the SEND Code of Practice
  • Support the children on the playgrounds and in the dinner hall during break and lunch times, including providing first aid for pupils where required
  • Monitor individual or group achievement of key objectives and feed back to the teacher
  • Be proactive and prepared by looking at lesson planning well in advance, finding or preparing any resources
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Adhere to and maintain school policies, routines and codes of conduct
  • Support the ethos, policies and Values of the school
  • Understand and adhere to the school’s Child Protection Policy
  • Undertake appropriate administrative tasks


The training you will be getting

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Standard qualification
  • Functional skills in maths and English, if required.
  • Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date.
