Working as an LGV Removals apprentice, your role will be initially working with the existing team to support removals across the UK. Through the apprenticeship you will learn all areas of LGV Category C driving. As you gain experience you will complete your full Category C licence and qualifications for LGV driving.

What you will do in your working day

  • Liaising with teams at the start of each day, making sure all relevant and required equipment is loaded prior to departure from head office
  • Driving to address, working together to safely park the vehicle in an adequate position to facilitate loading
  • Checking with the client on which items are to be moved
  • Dismantling large items of furniture for packing and removal
  • Carefully packing items and belongings
  • Keeping an accurate record of any storage requirements; including but not limited to, accurately making an inventory of items and storage locations
  • Effectively loading items and furniture into the vehicle and securing them safely
  • Safely drive to the new location, working together to safely park vehicle in an adequate position to facilitate unloading
  • Ensuring full payment has been received prior to unloading
  • Unloading belongings and placing them where needed, under instruction from the client
  • When the job is completed, check with other teams to see if any assistance is required
  • Ensuring customer completes all required paperwork
  • Ensuring vehicles are well maintained, clean, tidy and safely locked at the end of the day

The training you will be getting

In this role you will work towards obtaining a Level 2 LGV Category C (Urban Driver) apprenticeship qualification and Licence.

Functional skills in maths and English (if required).

The training for the apprenticeship will be ongoing through the 12-months and will involve practical and online training both on the job and with the apprenticeship provider.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

The successful completion of this apprenticeship will lead to a full-time Removals LGV Driver position.

Things to consider

Please note this role will involve physically demanding work. The role will also involve some extensive travel and the requirement to stay away from home at times. We do require our apprentices to have a satisfactory medical assessment. You also need to be over the age of 18 You will need to hold a valid full UK driving licence with at least 6 months driving experience to qualify for the license acquisition
