What you will do in your working day

You will be working closely with the head of finance on a few tasks.
Initially these will include:

  • Credit control - Weekly, Bi-monthly and monthly invoice runs. As well as debt investigation and chasing
  • Payroll - Weekly & Monthly payroll duties, working with the HOF with corrections & adjustments to the payroll
  • Maintenance of Xero accounts software, and adhoc duties

This will move on to more complex jobs later on in the apprenticeship. These may include:

  • Bank reconciliations
  • KPI variance analysis
  • Cost control
  • Business partnering

The training you will be getting

  • The Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Standard includes 6 AAT exams, in addition to the Synoptic Assessment as part of the End-Point Assessment (EPA) process
  • The knowledge units will be delivered by Babington, the method of how this is delievered is still to be decided

AAT Modules are as follows:

  • Introduction to Bookkeeping (Level 2 Unit)
  • Principles of Bookkeeping (Level 2 Unit)
  • Management Accounting Techniques 

Financial Accounting:

  • Preparing Financial Statements
  • Business Awareness
  • Tax Processes for Business

You will gain a Level 3 AAT qualification upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Once the apprenticeship is completed, it would be expected that the apprentice will look towards a Level 4 in AAT. And prehaps plan towards ACCA or CIMA chartered status
