What you will do in your working day

Daily duties and responsibilities to include maintenance and repair of:

  • Excavators
  • Dumpers
  • Rollers
  • A wide variety of tools and construction site equipment

The role will be predominantly Depot based, however, shadowing of an experienced Fitter for on-site callouts may be required.

The training you will be getting

  • Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you will receive an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Land-based Service Engineering
  • Functional skills in maths and English (if required)
  • Apprentices will attend Askham Bryan College in York on block release. There will be 10 study blocks each academic year which are Monday to Friday, 9-4pm
  • It is expected that the Apprentice will either commute daily to college or stay in catered campus accommodation. All associated expenses will be covered by Champion Hire

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Opportunity to progress throughout the company. This could be an experienced Plant Fitter or another role within Champion Hire.

Things to consider

This is a hands on physical role, maintaining and repairing items of plant and a variety of petrol, diesel and electric powered equipment. The role will include working both inside and outside.
