    30 hours a week over 4 days, including weekend work. Butchery days 10:00am to 5:00pm and kitchen work 9:00am to 3:00pm.

What you will do in your working day

All training and learning will take place in the workplace, where the training provider and our experienced butchery team will look after your development and make sure that you are learning new skills. 

Duties will include:

  • Assisting our in-house butchery team with preparation of all our meat products sold in the butchery
  • Assisting with customers and basic transactions supporting the butchery team
  • Learning the craft of butchery and the importance of different cuts of meat
  • Understanding the meat industry and animal welfare concerns Understand how meat is sourced and the different types of meat Be able to articulate this to customers if and when required
  • Represent and uphold high standards of service and professionalism of butchery towards our customers
  • Understand the importance of quality assurance and minimum waste and maximum yield
  • Represent and uphold high standards of service and professionalism of butchery towards our customers
  • Understand the importance of quality assurance and minimum waste and maximum learning their 'meat craft' in relation to cookery and culinary knowledge and skills

 

The training you will be getting

  • Butcher Standards Level 2 Qualification
  • FDQ Level 2 Award in Food Safety
  • FDQ Level 2 Award in Health and Safety
  • FDQ Level 2 Award in Knife Skills
  • Level 1/2 Functional skills in English and maths if required
  • Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date
