What you will do in your working day

As a mineral lab tech apprentice, you'll work with different parts of the business including production staff and customers whilst studying for your level 5 Mineral Products Technician qualification. 

Duties to include;

  • Laboratory analysis; perform a variety of tests and analyses on mineral samples using advanced techniques
  • Data recording and reporting; Accurately record and interpret analytical data, prepare comprehensive reports, and effectively communicate findings to senior lab staff and project managers
  • Quality control; implement quality control procedures to guarantee the precision and accuracy of test results and participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Health & Safety; Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues 
  • Collaboration; Work closely with technical teams to support ongoing projects and research initiatives
  • As part of your apprenticeship, you will study all aspects of mineral extraction and production and gain knowledge in key business and operations management 

The training you will be getting

  • Level 5 Mineral Products Technician 

You will complete this apprenticeship through blended learning; travelling to campus (Derby) for in-person lessons once per term alongside virtual classroom and self-led learning through set work.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

On completion of this apprenticeship, you will be a fully qualified Mineral Products Lab Technician, we expect you will join the team of lab techs and potentially progress further within the business.

Things to consider

It would be highly advantageous to have a Full UK driving license at the commencement of this apprenticeship to aid in your travel to other Brett sites and to attend University once per term.
