What you will do in your working day

  • Assisting with and progress with maintaining and installing air conditioning plant
  • Working on various chilled water plant and refrigeration systems
  • Working as part of a team on products in various sites including office blocks, hospitals, manufacturing plants and data centres
  • You will be travelling to a variety of sites across the country, so a full driving licence is essential

The training you will be getting

  • Upon successful completion of the End Point Assessment, you will receive a Level 3 in Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning & Heat Pumps Technician Engineer Apprenticeship Qualification
  • Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • Training will start in October at ChanniCool Training Services Ltd in Plymouth. It will be a weekly block release

All apprentices must achieve a “Level 2 Certificate in F Gas and ODS Regulations Category 1” as this is a legal requirement under the EU F Gas Regulation 517/2014 to work on equipment containing Fluorinated Refrigerants.

Employers who recruit candidates without English or Maths at Level 2 or above must ensure that the apprentice achieves this standard prior to the completion of the Apprenticeship.

This standard is designed to meet the professional standards of the Engineering Council for registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech) in partnership with the Institute of Refrigeration and CIBSE.
