What you will do in your working day

Responsibilities will include:

  • Testing diesel fuel injection components
  • Repairing diesel fuel injection components.
  • Stripping, cleaning, inspecting, rebuilding and testing of diesel fuel injection equipment.
  • Adherence to all health and safety procedures
  • Work alongside all departments within the company to learn the basics of engineering - inspection, goods inwards/outwards, dispatch, gaining knowledge of all equipment's and procedures
  • Assist management and the rest of the team when required to contribute towards the smooth running of service 

The training you will be getting

  • The Apprentice will be working towards the Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard (Technical Support Technician Pathway)
  • Qualifications include Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence), and Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
  • The Apprentice will be working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) - Technical Support Technician Pathway
  • College attendance will be at Colchester Institute Campus and online

Things to consider

The role is mostly online training but some training requires travel. There's heavy lifting involved, although manual handling training and lifting equipment is provided. The role will also involve standing/being on your feet for sustained periods.

Colchester Fuel Injection Limited has been a well established company for over fifty years now. Within that time we have grown our business into what it is today. In 1968 the founder Mr Colin Martin, worked within the commercial vehicle business and soon realised that there was a gap in the market for a diesel fuel injection specialist. Twelve months later Colchester Fuel Injection was formed. Our primary services are testing, repair and overhaul of all types of diesel fuel injection systems. The company is long established in the Rail, Marine, Power Generation, Off Highway Machinery and Commercial Vehicle, Light Goods Vehicle and Passenger car sectors. We have a full Parts Department, Sales Team and Vehicle Workshop. The Vehicle Workshop is dedicated to diagnosing and repairing diesel, petrol and hybrid vehicles.
