What you will do in your working day

Initially the apprentice will work alongside a lead engineer, leading and developing in the field of fire and security. This is a field based role. Though each day will be different; the role will include the installation, maintenance and repair of systems:

  • CCTV
  • Intruder alarm
  • Access control
  • Fire alarms

The training you will be getting

  • Fire Emergency Security Systems Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Skills for Security will deliver the apprenticeship training in block release at their Watford Centre
  • You will attend centre one week every eight weeks. 
  • You will be required to complete all training tasks allocated during your block release weeks at the training centre and gather any site evidence needed to supplement your studies
  • You will be required to complete an annual assessment at the training centre and take part in any additional training courses that the company require you to complete

On Site Training:

  • You will shadow and be mentored by a full time engineer and develop proficiency in installing, configuring and maintaining security systems
