The Cumbria Rural Academy is the hub of the community (Bigland Hall equestrian). Working here offers an individual the opportunity to develop a great range of skills and knowledge, extending beyond equine care. An equine groom here will also play a great part in supporting the people we serve.

Annual wage
£13,312 a year

The pay may be negotiated and may rise after a probation period has been successfully completed.

Training course
Equine groom (level 2)
Expect to work 5 days a week including at least one weekend day. Final shift pattern to be discussed and agreed upon with the successful candidate (TBC). Total hours per week: 40 hours a week

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • You will be working towards the Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship Standard with the employer at the employers premises, and supported by Haddon Training
  • You will also be supported in completing Functional Skills at Level 1 and/ or 2 in maths and English if you have not yet achieved a 'Pass' grade

Other requirements

This role will require outdoor work in all weathers so any candidate must be prepared to do this. Due to the remote location of this employer , candidates must have there own transport or be able to be dropped off at the location.

After this apprenticeship

  • For the right candidate, there is the possibility of progressing to a Level 3 Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship upon successful completion of Level 2
