What you will do in your working day

As our new apprentice, you will learn about the wide variety of items we stock, covering the engineering, process and industrial sectors. With training and support, you will gain specialist knowledge, allowing you to support and offer advice to our customers. Your main focus will be bolts, fasteners and instrumentation products, which include; transmitters, gauges, switches, manifolds, sampling systems and test equipment. Products are available in different grades and materials, and over the course of your apprenticeship you will gradually learn and increase your product knowledge.


You will be fully trained and supported to learn more about MJ Wilson Group, which will allow you to progress within the organisation.


Duties will include:

· Receiving training and building knowledge of instrumentation products and bolts, to enable you to offer advice and support to customers

· Shadowing and learning from other members of the internal sales team

· Preparing quotes

· Building relationships with customers and offering exceptional customer service

· Checking stock, monitoring shipments/deliveries and ensuring customers are kept informed

· Dealing with enquiries via Email and telephone, and resolving issues or complaints

· Data entry and using IT systems

· Opportunity to attend occasional meetings with the external sales team, providing an excellent opportunity for learning and development

· All other associated duties as required


As an apprentice, you will work from the head office, based on Charlton Street in Grimsby and will be assigned a Trainer/Assessor who will visit you in the workplace. You will also receive full training and support from the employer’s team who have a wealth of industry knowledge.

  • A bespoke programme of practical, technical and vocational learning
  • Functional Skills in maths and English at level 2 (if applicable)
