What you will do in your working day

This is a structured 4 year apprenticeship resulting in a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering. The first year will be spent at Midland Group Training Services (MGTS) in Redditch learning core practical and theoretical elements of the role. For the following years, apprentices will attend MGTS on a day release basis to complete the necessary educational requirements for the programme.

Duties & Responsibilities;

  • To build high pressure, reciprocating compressor blocks of various sizes within the designated time frames, to high standards
  • Build a wide variety of sub-assemblies for compressors and aftermarket use
  • To build custom engineered compressor sets with limited instruction
  • Accurately read and interpret general arrangement drawings, manuals and written instructions in order to produce a quality product
  • To prepare various compressor models and compressor packages for test, carry out performance/functionality tests to documented procedures and breakdown/remove machines
  • To ensure Health and Safety policies are adhered to and requirements are maintained
  • To record all relevant test results using computer software
  • To assist in problem solving and potentially repair compressors in the event of test failures
  • Work in a lean environment and continually strive in improve the work environment and methods
  • Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required within the scope of the role

  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Upon successful completion of the four-year programme, an individual assessment will be carried out by Ingersoll Rand to determine whether a full-time position will be offered.
