What you will do in your working day

  • Prepares mise-en-place to the required standard as directed
  • Assists the senior chefs in the daily operation of a section
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of sections and whole kitchen 

The training you will be getting

The apprenticeship duration is 18 months and comprises of ‘on the job training’ within the workplace and ‘off the job’ further education and learning at Scarborough TEC College, Scarborough, one day per week. The qualification gained will be a level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship standard. 

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Progression to Demi Chef de Partie/Chef de Partie 
  • Specialise in a section eg. pastry
