What you will do in your working day

Candidates must have their own transport (car) that is insured for business use and will be willing to travel regularly to all 8 of our offices. Mileage will be paid where travel is in excess of usual commute from home to the base office. The allocated base office will be within a reasonable commute from the successful applicant’s home. The Firm's offices are located in: Poole, Parkstone, Blandford, Southbourne (Bournemouth), Wareham, Swanage, Dorchester and Crewkerne.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • The role will involve working ‘Front of house’ as the ‘face’ of HK Law, taking phone calls and attending to visiting clients, as well as supporting the legal teams with general administration and document management.
  • The position will suit candidates who are immaculately presented and possess the relevant transferable skills needed for working in a professional office environment.
  • Previous experience as a receptionist or similar is desirable but not essential as training can be given.
  • Candidates must be conscientious and reliable with a professional demeanour and possess excellent communication skills including a good telephone manner.
  • An eye for detail and the ability to follow instructions, process and procedure is essential, as is a keen interest in helping colleagues to achieve common goals.
  • The role will involve a degree of light lifting and carrying (i.e. files)
  • and regular use of stairs.
  • There may also be daily shopping and postal duties required.

Depending upon the skills, competencies and wishes of the Apprentice, coupled with their suitability for any roles that may be available at the time, our intention is always to mentor, coach and train to a high standard with a view to retention or in any event, equipping Apprentices with the practical basic administration skills that will stand them in good stead for any future employment.
