What you will do in your working day

The Apprentice Bench Joiner will be based in our workshop in Mansfield and the successful candidates main duties will include:

  • Working alongside senior Joiners to develop joinery skills including the use of hand and power tools
  • Manufacturing shop fitting items such as doors, door frames & architraves, carcass units, trash bins, toilet ducts & panels, shelving and shop counters
  • Working with various hardwoods & softwoods, MDF, laminates and solid surfaces
  • General workshop and yard housekeeping including emptying dust extractor

The training you will be getting

  • Level 2 Wood Product Manufacturing Operative apprenticeship standard qualification, including Functional Skills in maths and English, if required.
  • You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.
  • You will experience a blended learning model.
  • This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our construction campus in NG17. This attendance is required during term time only.
  • You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.
  • At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.
