What you will do in your working day

  • Learn electrical and mechanical skills from experienced time served mechanical and electrical/instrumentation Engineers to enable them to carry out planned and reactive first line maintenance tasks.

  • Work closely with the Operations department to develop an understanding of how the power station generates electricity that is distributed to the grid system.

  • Support the site team in the day to day running of the power station.

  • Undertake training to fully understand how a power station generates electricity that is distributed to the grid system.

About the employer

Western Biomass Operating Company (WBOC) is an operations and maintenance company that holds a 20-year O&M contract to operate the Tilbury Green Power Plant on behalf of the plant owners located in Tilbury Essex within the port of Tilbury. WBOC is owned by Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S (BWSC) & Aalborg Energie Technik (AET) who both are based in Denmark who provide O&M services within the power generation sector. Tilbury Green Power Plant is a 41.5MWe power plant that that burns 300,000 tonnes of waste wood every year which supplies renewable energy to approximately 97,000 homes.
