What you will do in your working day

  • Placing orders for finished goods and materials from global and local suppliers using an in-house computer system
  • Liaising with both local and international suppliers
  • Dealing with new product procurement and packaging
  • Credit control
  • Managing customer accounts and chasing payments
  • Raising sales invoices and credit notes
  • Internal sales
  • Taking calls from trade and retail customers
  • Processing orders using companies’ in-house computer system (SAP)
  • Liaising with internal warehouse and production staff
  • General administrative duties including data entry
  • Dealing with inbound and outbound telephone calls
  • Dealing with post and emails

The training you will be getting

This is an 18-month Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship. You will be required to attend Elite Centre for Manufacturing Skills, University of Wolverhampton, Springfield Campus, Grimstone Street,Wolverhampton, WV10 0JP, 2 days per week over a 5-week period as part of the apprenticeship delivery.
You will also have monthly assessor visits to see you at the company.

This apprenticeship will include a full induction and ten ‘off the job’ training sessions taking place in Wolverhampton or Telford. Dependent on prior qualifications learners may also need to complete functional skills in English and maths at Level 2. The off the job training sessions will take place within the first 3 months of the learners start date to ensure they gain knowledge, understanding and competence to further enhance their knowledge, skills and behaviors working within administration: • Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint • Developing self as effective team working • Problem solving • Principles of social media • Decision making • Understanding change in the workplace • Planning and monitoring work • Induction and coaching in the workplace The Apprentice will also have as assigned assessor, who will complete monthly workplace visits and support the completion of the Apprenticeship and get them prepared for the end point assessment and support them with the following on the job: • Principles of administration support • Understanding employer organization • Communication skills • Telephone techniques • Time management • Basic finance • Writing for a business • Satisfying customer requirements

 

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

There is a full-time position after successful completion of the apprenticeship and opportunities to progress onto further qualifications.
