What you will do in your working day

As a teaching assistant you will support pupils in their educational, emotional and social development either individually, in groups or as a whole class.

You will also support the teacher by undertaking duties that will free up their time for teaching such as:

  • Preparing the classroom for lessons
  • Making resources and creating displays of children’s work
  • Evaluating the impact of support on helping learners progress
  • Provide general support to pupils ensuring their safety
  • Assisting the teacher with the planning of learning activities
  • Supporting the school by promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children you are responsible for

The training you will be getting

The successful apprentice will complete a full Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard through Birmingham Metropolitan College. The apprenticeship qualification will be delivered on a day release basis at our Matthew Boulton Campus in the centre of Birmingham.
