What you will do in your working day

  • Processing and checking prescription requests
  • Dispensing medication against prescription
  • Collecting due prescription charges, ensuring FP10 is duly completed
  • Operate efficient stock
  • Ensuring all drugs are stored appropriately
  • Reporting and logging any untoward incidents
  • Ensuring all tasks relating to the dispensary are dealt with efficiently
  • General housekeeping - cleaning shelves and checking expiry dates

The training you will be getting

  • Pharmacy technician (integrated) Level 3 qualification

The programme contains 15 modules which integrate all aspects of pharmacy practice, such as legal and professional issues, alongside the underpinning science, clinical knowledge, first aid and person-centred care. The teaching builds during the two years both in complexity and range, so that topics are explored and revisited as knowledge and skills develop. New content developed for the course includes:

  • Knowledge, skills and behaviours to enable person-centred care
  • Accuracy checking knowledge and in-process accuracy checking competency
  • First aid knowledge
  • health promotion skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Management and resilience training

The delivery has to be based on experiential learning with protected learning time (10% of working hours)

About the employer

The pharmacy is situated in Broomhill Sheffield and has been serving the community for over 10 years from 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and from 12pm to 10pm on Sunday. We are a fully registered pharmacy with the General Pharmaceutical Council and are therefore able to dispense all NHS and private prescriptions. We also offer care home services as well as other health and wellbeing services.
