What you will do in your working day

We have a growing number of pupils with high needs coming into our school. Several of these children require closer support, and we have four children at present in need of 1:1 support for large portions of the school day. These children are showing traits of Autism, Pathological Demand Avoidance and have challenges around their communication and interaction. They need to be surrounded by consistency, kindness and empathy to help them to thrive in school and in the wider world.

We hope to appoint two candidates. Each will work with two children: one in the morning and another in the afternoon. They will support these children with learning in school in a safe way, whilst encouraging interaction with their peer groups in classes and small groups.

Training will be delivered in school and through the apprenticeship provider, and the successful candidates will have a thorough induction process to help them settle into daily life here at Oatlands Infant School.
