What you will do in your working day

Dalkia proudly provides building maintenance services to Selfridges, Oxford Street, London. 

This apprenticeship role will be supporting our Mechanical and Electrical Engineering teams based at Selfridges, providing reactive and regular maintenance services for various buildings. We have a fantastic team of skilled engineers who collectively have a wealth of experience and can give you a positive start on your apprenticeship journey. 

During your apprenticeship you will be paired with an engineer everyday to assist in carrying out routine tasks such as:

  • Electrical inspection and testing
  • Mechanical fault finding
  • General building services maintenance
  • Supervised assisted maintenance of electrical/mechanical equipment such as pumps, boilers, hot and cold water systems, drainage systems, heating systems, air conditioning units and air handling units
  • Working with the health and safety team to ensure site documentation is understood and up to date
  • Always working safely in accordance with Dalkia's health and safety policies and procedures and folllowing our ABCD principles
  • Attending college on day release and committing yourself to your studies

It is not essential for the apprentice candidate to have a driving license as sites are accessible via public transport or they can share a vehicle with one of our team.

The training you will be getting

  • As well as guided on the job training specific to our organisation you will study towards your level 3 Maintenance Operations and Engineering Technician Level 3. You will attend college on day release 
  • A tutor will be assigned to you and you will receive protected study time within the workplace
  • You will also get support from our apprenticeship team through mentoring and buddying
  • Functional Skills level 2 in English and maths if required

Things to consider

Experience of further education is preferred but certainly not essential. This would suit someone with a practical mindset who likes to problem solve too. The role requires someone who has reasonable fitness levels and an understanding of working safely. You will work across various London locations
