What you will do in your working day

  • Support teachers in the setting up of classroom activities.
  • Understand the curriculum being taught.
  • Understand the specific learning needs of each student.
  • Support students accessing learning and curriculum as directed by the teacher.
  • Communicate positively with all students, modelling best practice.
  • Support students in becoming independent learners.
  • Apply the school’s behaviour management procedures and support students to achieve the best outcomes.
  • Support teachers in ensuring the teaching room complies with Health and Safety.
  • Put equipment out for lessons and tidy away following lessons.
  • Carry out duty over lunch period as directed by duty rota.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of Cavendish School.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety procedures.
  • Adhere to Safeguarding procedures in line with policies, including Prevent, Online Safety.
  • Maintain confidentially in line with our GDPR procedures and policy.
  • Support enrichment activities for example in house workshops and off-site visits.

The training you will be getting

You will be working towards your Teaching Assistant Level 3 qualification (an industry recognised qualification) which is delivered via monthly 2-3-hour lessons with your assigned Trainer Assessor (TA) via teams. Throughout the month, you will complete self-led study which will include assignments, worksheets, projects, etc. and blended learning and development activities/training with your manager and shadowing team members.

All learning will be completed in your workplace and during your working hours. Units that you will be studying include teamwork, keeping children safe in education, supporting & developing pupils learning & development, equality & diversity, curriculum, technology, and behaviours.
