What you will do in your working day

  • The postholder will work in a supported learning environment to develop the skills and knowledge which will assist the apprentice to complete their qualification to secure future employment and to progress in their career
  • To administer all planned absence forms as necessary
  • To provide administrative and general support to both the data manager, exams officer and data director
  • Arrange for efficient and cost-effective cover of absent colleagues with due regard to quality of education provided for students. Including the deployment of Cover Supervisors and Supply Teachers as needed
  • Liaise with the Curriculum Vocation Team in order to maintain the planned absence calendar effectively ensuring the correct balance between staff needs/requests and quality of provision in the classroom
  • Alert the Curriculum Vocation Team to potential understaffing situations as they arise and advise on whether supply agency staff may be required
  • Coordinate, greet and support any supply teachers contracted to work at the Academy, ensuring all safeguarding vetting and appropriate checks are in place and prepare any related timesheets for approval

General Responsibilities:

  • To work closely with the data team to support our aim to drive forward continuous improvements and to raise standards
  • To provide all-round administrative support, in the areas highlighted below, to gain an overall insight into the varied and typical administrative roles at the Academy and, with support, ensure that an efficient and effective service is provided to all stakeholders at all times
  • To undertake a training and development programme leading to a qualification in Business Administration as part of the apprenticeship
  • To ensure that duties are undertaken with due regard and compliance with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection, copyright and other legislation reporting any concerns to the line manager
  • To undergo any training required in-order to perform duties effectively
  • To maintain good general knowledge of the Academy’s systems in-order to carry out duties effectively
  • To present new ideas and contribute towards continuous improvement at the Academy

The training you will be getting

Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required although you should be aware that there are minimum requirements expected as laid out within this job description.

This is a work-based programme which means that predominantly, your learning will take place on the site of your employment and within your contracted working hours.

We host supporting workshops regularly throughout the apprenticeship which you can attend in person at our Derby Road campus or online using Microsoft Teams. These workshops are carefully designed to support the learning required throughout the apprenticeship programme.

You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.

You will experience a blended learning model.

You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.

At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed by all parties that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.
