What you will do in your working day

  • You will undertake a series of  work placements within our production facilities in Westhoughton, Bolton and on-site
  • You will work alongside experienced engineers, to gain all round experience within the door industry
  • You will spend time with our production teams manufacturing high-speed doors and dock levellers
  • You will spend time with our engineers, installing, servicing, repairing, maintaining a range of industrial doors, loading bay equipment, gates and barriers on customer sites throughout the northwest

The training you will be getting

  • You will follow our own in-house training programme, as well as studying towards achieving a Level 2 Engineering Operative apprenticeship and completing a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations
  • Most of your time will be spent gaining practical experience, although you will be required to attend a classroom-based workshop, once per month, with the apprenticeship training provider

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

At the end of the apprenticeship programme, subject to progression and the needs of the business, there will be the opportunity for continuing employment as an Assistant Engineer within one of our specialist divisions, to gain further experience before progressing on to become a Lead Engineer in your own van.

Things to consider

You must be able to make your own way to our production facility at Wingates Industrial Park, Westhoughton and will possess a full driving licence or intend to work towards this. You should be comfortable with, and capable of, manual handling tasks and working at height and must be willing and able to work overtime as and when required
