What you will do in your working day

An amazing opportunity to complete an animal care level 2 apprenticeship. 

You will learn to be a kennel assistant, with all that entails such as:

  • Walking dogs
  • Cleaning accommodation
  • Dog nutrition (and cats)
  • Site maintenance, making sure it is hazard free
  • Working as part of a team that takes animal care very seriously. It is a fun job, playing with dogs, stroking and cuddling cats (when they let you!) and being responsible for the care and wellbeing of all the animals left in our charge
  • There is a lot of walking, so you will be very fit and you will be outdoors in all kinds of weather

The training you will be getting

  • Animal Care and Welfare Assistant level 2 apprenticeship
  • The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship
  • All training will take place at the work location and the applicant will complete an animal care apprenticeship in full

Things to consider

Mainly outdoor, working with animals, lots of exercise, and a great deal of fun playing with the dogs and cuddling cats. KEITS reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than the date provided if necessary.

About the employer

Westmead is family run boarding kennels for dogs and cats. We also offer day care for dogs and grooming. The dogs are walked either in our safe paddock area off lead, or round our 3 acre field. The staff are friendly and supportive, and care of the animals is of paramount concern.
