    The working hours will be 9am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday full time when not attending university during term time. Apprentices will attend university one day a week during term time.

What you will do in your working day

  • Assist experienced engineers in the design process in order to gain a detailed working knowledge of all parts of the industry
  • Assist Senior Engineers with detailed design tasks and drawing production
  • Develop an understanding of the different building materials and techniques employed in design
  • Carry out detailed design calculations and develop a full understanding of computer design packages
  • Maintain a Continuing Professional Development diary to assist in obtaining appropriate qualifications
  • Learn and understand design techniques and develop awareness of other design disciplines
  • Maintain a training log on a daily basis, recording achievements and experience

The training you will be getting

The apprentice will complete the Building Services Engineering degree apprenticeship with London Southbank University on day release for approx 4.5 years. The apprentice will be based at our London Blackfriars office attending university at the campus located near Elephant and Castle. 

Functional Skills in English and maths if required.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

We would expect all apprentices to stay with the buisness and become fully fledged design engineers - we would like our apprentices to work through our Careers Plus apprenticeship programme and become part of the sucession plan for HDR in the UK.
