What you will do in your working day

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice with good time keeping and a willingness to learn and commit fully to the job role.
  • You should be able to use own initiative to keep children safe, happy and cared for in our supportive environment.
  • Duties will include assisting room leaders to plan and provide a full curriculum within EYFS, stimulate children’s play and support at meal/snack time as well as provide intimate care.

The training you will be getting

This Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 12 –14 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will be on Zoom). Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the programme. 

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

At Mayo Kindergarten, we aim to support our apprentices fully with their training, including additional continuous professional development in areas of specific interest. 

Completion of this apprenticeship, may lead to offer of continued employment and training for the completion of Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship.

About the employer

Mayo Kindergarten is a private nursery school for children aged from 18 months to 4 years that operates within a large Victorian three storey terraced house within a residential area of Cockermouth in Cumbria. Children in our setting also have access to a fantastic, secure enclosed outdoor play area. The Kindergarten was rated as “Good” by Ofsted following our most recent inspection in November 2019.
