What you will do in your working day

  • Attend college courses related to pipe fitting and plumbing, including pipe welding, fabrication, plumbing  and safety protocols to gain theoretical knowledge
  • Learn to interpret technical drawings to understand project specifications and requirements
  • Learn and apply how to measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes according to specifications using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Assemble pipes and fittings using welding, soldering, brazing, and other joining methods
  • Learn how to maintain, repair and install plumbing and related fixtures and components
  • Assist experienced pipe fitters with installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems
  • With experienced fitters and engineers test piping systems for leaks and ensure proper alignment and secure connections.
  • Work on a variety of projects to become commercially aware of the project requirements, cost and timescales as dictated by process requirements
  • Continuously improve skills and knowledge through hands-on experience and training
  • General housekeeping, cable management and safe working practices in the fabrication halls and throughout the facility

  • Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship Certificate
  • Level 2 Functional Skillsin maths and English (if required)

  • Future Prospects On completion of your apprenticeship, you will be time served in your trade and will be offered a permanent position with A&P
