Summary

An Apprentice Paraplanner is required. Exciting opportunity to grow your career in Financial Services! The role will consist of Administrative support to the practice financial advisers and ensuring the efficient operation of investment processes. Duties include various tasks related to portfolio management, client services, and record-keeping.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Fully and part funded learning and development programme that includes the Certificate in Financial Services
  • Develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours of successful Paraplanners
  • Free CII membership for non-members through the CII Aspire Apprenticeship Programme for those who have not been a paid member before
  • Includes study book and exam entry for each CII exam
  • The Certificate in Financial Services includes:
  • R01 Financial Services, Regulation and Ethics
  • CF1 can be delivered instead of R01, depending on circumstances
  • R02 Investment Principles and Risk
  • R03 Personal Taxation
  • J09 Paraplanning
  • Fortnightly workshops for each R0 exam
  • All workshops recorded and available on-demand
  • Interactive chat, forums and class note books for real time support and assistance from experienced financial services professionals
  • Additional resources through RM Advance
  • Regular tutorials and assessments from an experienced financial services professional.

  • Quality service delivery: Consistently develops and delivers excellent service to customers, colleagues & advisers, supporting the products & services provided and adhering to TCF principles at all times. Has excellent attention to detail & provides a quality assurance check for the adviser firm.
  • Customer communication & relationships: Develops effective and enduring relationships with customers & key contacts through effective verbal/written/IT skills. Can handle & resolve issues. Can write reports that includes the necessary technical language but articulates in a way that client’s understand.
  • Team working & collaboration: Understands role within team & impact on others. Consistently endeavours to support colleagues & collaborate to achieve results.
  • Planning & prioritising: Demonstrates relevant level of skills to be able to provide thorough research & analysis. Can plan & prioritise work effectively in order to deliver good outcomes for both the customer & the business.
  • Using systems & processes: Consistently adheres to systems & processes using proficient IT skills, including risk, regulatory and governance requirements.

    Other requirements

    The job will require working in an office environment, regular use of a computer, and sometimes extended hours during peak practice activity such as Tax Year End. Your responsibilities may variably change during the Apprenticeship Programme, as the practice grows. A background check, and references from previous employers or lecturers/teachers will be required. You may be required to take Aptitude tests during the interview process. Knowledge of regulatory compliance in the investment industry is a plus. Prior knowledge of investment products, and the financial markets is a plus.

    After this apprenticeship

    In house training on investment administrative tasks:

    • Detailed investment report writing, in compliance with FCA regulatory procedures.
    • E-Learning support in house with host of supportive material
    • Hands on training up until ISA replacement – thereafter learning on hand with distant learning modules.
    • Progression will be available from simple cases to more complex cases
    • Potential to apply for the Paraplanner academy with St James’s Place should it be re-launched.
