What you will do in your working day

In this wide-ranging Apprenticeship, you will learn to produce forklift truck conversions and oil and gas engine packages.

As an Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to learn a variety of skills including:

  • Undertaking wiring modifications to wiring diagrams
  • Light fabrication to make mounting brackets inside closures and for ancillaries
  • Populating enclosures to wiring standards and wiring the electrical system to wiring diagrams and engineering instructions
  • Selecting appropriate cables and components and on-job manufactured parts
  • Undertaking bench skills including crimping, soldering and cable-routing
  • Reading and interpreting engineering instructions (drawings, wiring diagrams and photographs)
  • Spray painting of components
  • Mechanical assembly
  • The safe use of hand tools
  • Safe working practices within a manufacturing environment

The training you will be getting

On completion of the Apprenticeship, you will have achieved the following mandatory qualifications:

  • ST0164 Engineering Fitter Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard

The final apprenticeship completion certificate will be issued on achievement of the above qualification and successful completion of end point assessment.

As with all apprenticeships, this requires a long-term commitment – there will be assignments and logbook entries to complete. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a top company, whilst you work towards nationally recognised qualifications.
