What you will do in your working day

  • To help to set up the room for the daily programme and to help tidy away at the end of a session.
  • To work with the children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation, liaising with staff ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.
  • Working to the best of your ability at all times.
  • Work as part of a team following our positive teamwork guidelines.

The training you will be getting

You will engage daily with parents, children, and a network of professionals like health visitors and social workers. Dive into the action by supporting child-led activities, fostering learning through play, and collaborating with a dynamic team to ensure each child feels secure.

As an EYP apprentice, you will contribute to observation, assessment, and care tasks, working in partnership with parents and professionals. Your role involves recognising and addressing potential dangers to ensure the safety of children and maintaining a vibrant, secure environment.

Month 1-12: This is where you will learn the most, completing learning objectives towards achieving your qualifications.

  • Building your competence and portfolio of evidence through covering key KSBs for your apprenticeship standar
  • Completing units and tests required to achieve your Diploma
  • Being observed on a few occasions by your tutor and/or line manager/mentor (requirements for your EPA)
  • Completing Functional Skills (where applicable)
  • Attending group workshops covering key topics
  • Attending monthly teaching and learning reviews to ensure everything is going well
  • Progress reviews every three months with your personal tutor and line manager

Month 13-14: Consolidating your knowledge, skills and behaviours, preparing for the final step of your apprenticeship

  • Finalising your portfolio of evidence
  • Completing mock tests in preparation for your EPA
  • Completing the paperwork necessary for the next steps

Month 14-16: Gateway Period, you will be completing your final assessments with our End Point Assessment Organisation, ActiveIQ
