What you will do in your working day

The successful candidate will shadow a skilled, qualified fitter and learn how to carry out the following tasks:

  • Servicing and inspection of HGVs, working to VOSA standards
  • Lubrication/oil changing
  • Fuel/Air Systems
  • Removing and replacing components and in time, electrical units
  • Removing and replacing chassis & transmission units/components
  • Build upon Health and Safety knowledge & skills in the Automotive environment
  • Build upon knowledge & skills of materials, tools, devices in the Automotive environment

The successful candidate will also be expected to:

  • Assist other members of the team as requested
  • Clean equipment/vehicles/yard
  • Maintain the appearance of the fleet
  • Show and apply a desire and commitment to learn and develop
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as requested by the manager

The training you will be getting

  • Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician qualification
  • Level 2 Functional skills in English and maths if required
  • One day a week for theory and practical in Langley college
